Most Common Questions
What is a Telephone Engineer, and what do I do?
A telephone engineer specialises in rectifying telephone and broadband issues, in homes and businesses.
I’m an ex-BT telephone engineer with over 20 years experience which means I have solved 1000's of problems for people throughout the UK. My experience and specialist equipment allows me to solve problems quickly and easily, for instance if you have a fault on your telephone line, using specialised testing equipment I can often map the problem to within a few meters to identify problems such as high resistance in cabling, a short circuit or something else.
One of the biggest benefits of my service, is providing a clear written instruction in my invoice as to where the fault lies i.e. the home owner or the service provider. Where the fault lies with the service provider, the home owner can often use my invoice and write-up to claim compensation and avoid unnecessary charges.
My broadband is slow, how do I improve the speed?
Slow broadband can often be the result of poor wiring, poor connectivity, and not being connected to a functioning broadband socket (i.e. being connected to an old master socket). However with my vast experience and specialist equipment I can identify broadband faults effectively.
Once I have identified your broadband fault. I can remedy it, and fit the latest broadband socket to improve speed and stability.
Quite often limitations are places by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) such as BT and Sky, and I can work directly with your ISP to get these removed to further enhance your broadband.
I’m not receiving incoming calls, why and can you fix this?
Many issues could be causing this such as problems with the telephone exchange, the telephone, or internal network issues.
An engineering visit and proper testing would be recommended to identify and resolve this.
