Data Cabling

Telecom Services Worcestershire can install and then test your data cabling using a high quality peak tester. We don’t use the cheaper, flashing light testers.

This cable can be a simple point to point link cable from a router in the home to another part of the home, or even into a remote purpose-built office building in the garden; essentially anywhere broadband access is required.  We can also install a Wireless access point to run in the new environment . Alternatively, we can wire and terminate a structured network with multiple cables in a coms cabinet environment. The maximum cable distance will be approximately 90 metres as the broadband signal weakens drastically after this distance. We do however have access to other products which are available to cover greater distance if required, both wired and wireless.

TSW was recently asked to solve a problem where a customer had a poor 1-megabyte connection into their home. The customer had a 50-megabyte BT fibre Broadband connection into a holiday home which was located across the road from the main home. We therefore looked at sharing this connection with the main home. The cost saving was substantial and a Vonage VOIP box would give telephone service at an affordable monthly fee, allowing the customer to keeping their existing phone number as well. As the road crossing had ruled out running a cable to share the 50-meg connection, we used a point to point Wi-Fi bridge

The home had a poor 1MB service DSL service only. So, we pushed the fibre service over the Wi-Fi bridge and fitted a Wi-Fi access point. This resulted in a shared 56 MB broadband connection. A Vonage VOIP connected on the back restored the customer with full voice service.

The greatest difference was that they now had 56 Meg fibre speed throughout the home and no longer had a huge monthly bill. It was just £12/month payable to Vonage for a free VOIP voice connection to mobile and landline, including 5 countries.
